So from starting the game the menu screen had me in awe you see things being built, it shows this still has the main aspect of Minecraft and from that had me wondering what was next.
Episode 1 “Order of the Stone”
The story starts with a narrator talking about The Order of the Stone these are a group of friends/heroes based within the story, each hero has their own ability and strength, Gabriel the Warrior, Ellegaard the Redstone Engineer and Soren the Architect, The Order did some amazing things which I will not say here as the best thing about Telltale Games is the story and I don’t want to say to much that could spoil it.
The story then follows the character you choose on an adventure through many different things such as building something for the Endercon building competition, to traveling to amazingly built buildings in this terrific adventure game based on the wonderful world of Minecraft. The story from Episode 1 was amazing it had me enjoying every moment of it and I really can’t wait for Episode 2.
The gameplay is very similar to other Telltale Games so people who have played the previous Telltale Games will be in familiar territory but if your new to these games then you wont know what to expect. The gameplay involves adventuring around certain areas such as the forest to your home and other places, it follows a kind of point and click style, if you see something of interest you click on it, you can also collect various objects that may be able to help you later on in your adventure, you will also have to dodge things in quicktime events to also figuring out various puzzles, I personally really enjoy the gameplay to Telltale Games as it all adds to the main point which is their brilliant story telling. The gameplay is a great part to the game but if you’re looking for a game with very in-depth gameplay mechanics this is not it but if you’re here for the story and want a game that doesn’t take that effect away then this is for you.
What can I say its basically Minecraft graphics with more animations to the characters for their lips to move along with facial expressions and arm movements. Im glad this still looks like minecraft though as it keeps to the fact that this is still based in the Minecraft universe and is a brilliant looking world. I personally think the graphics are perfect for this game and for the Minecraft feeling.
The voice acting is perfect for this game it gives every character their own personality along with amazing music which sounds like its from the Minecraft world but with new kinds of additions to the old tracks that some people may be familiar with, also the game keeps the original Minecraft sound effects such as the sound of the grass when walking on it to the sound of the mobs and collecting items. The sound of this game is something that adds to this amazing experience.
Seeing this is only Episode 1, you have 4 more episodes to look forward to within the upcoming months, but once you have finished all the episodes, you could replay them to try and experience all the different choices and see how it effects the story.
All I can say is that Episode 1 was brilliant, it had humor, action, suspense and an amazing story, I just cant wait for the other episodes.
- Great Story
- Amazing Soundtrack
- Brilliant Cast of Voice Actors
- Fun Gameplay That Keeps You Entertained within the story
- Brillaint Buildings That Look Exactly Like The Ones From Minecraft
- Great Episode Length Roughly 2 Hours Long (Maybe More/ Maybe Less)
- I feel that the decisions where not as strong as previous Telltale Games
