My first thoughts of this game was that it seems very different to every other dead island for 1 reason its a third person survival mystery horror game where as the the other dead island games are first person anyway’s so far I am actually enjoying the game its very entertaining and I want to know what is going on in the story!
The Story of Escape Dead Island is about uncovering the roots of the outbreak and where it started you play as Cliff Calo who embarks on this epic journey along with his two friends Linda Waterson and Devan Marvopani to uncover the secrets of the outbreak on the island of Narapela while on this journey Cliff encounters some crazy things you will also run in to a familiar which is cool if you have played the other dead island games. if you have played the previous dead island games and enjoyed the stories to them or even if you just want to find out the origins to the outbreak this will give some insight to that overall I think the story to escape dead island wasn’t to bad it will keep you occupied for the duration of the game.
The gameplay to escape dead island is a third person action game. the gameplay contains very basic action mechanics 2 button attack X For light attack and Y for heavy the game also contains the use of a camera to take pictures of anything that can add to Cliff’s Story but with the camera I kind of found it pointless it gets to the point where you don’t want to take pictures as its just so boring to do so I really did dislike the whole camera plus every time you had to get the camera out it wouldn’t stay equipped so I found this very frustrating. The shooting mechanics are not to bad but again very basic there are only 2 weapons a Pistol and a shotgun you can get upgrades but the firearms still remain as those guns. The melee you come across various melee weapons but you can not upgrade them which is kind of a shame but I understand this is only a short game anyway’s the fighting mechanics are very slow and the execution is just so boring as there are only 2 different executions along with that you can sneak up on the zombies and kill them which in my opinion I think is the best. Overall the gameplay isn’t to bad and as stated seeing this is only meant to be a short game the gameplay and mechanics are pretty good.
The graphics to escape dead island are very cartoony but I am a fan of these kind of art styles as I think they bring out a lot of the gore on certain things so to me the graphics are great also the cutscenes are like comic strips which I think is very cool overall the graphics in my opinion are very good as I like how the game looks.
The sound to escape dead island is very basic the voice actors are not the best in the world but they are not the worst either also the firearm sounds are ok so as stated a lot of the sound effects are basic but I did not expect to go in and hear loads of great music and stuff so overall the sound is not to bad for the game.
There really isn’t apart from trying to get all the collectibles.
Overall the game wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be and I did enjoy it for the first 2 hours then it got very repetitive and couldn’t wait to finish it but this doesn’t make it a bad game and I definitely think fans of the dead island series should check this game out.
- Not A Bad Story
- Cool Graphics
- Nice Environment
- Voice Actors fit each character very well
- Very repetitive
- Gets Boring Fast
- No Fast Travel
- Checkpoints are annoying
