*The Answer Lies…In the Heart of Battle*
*Please Note: The story for Ultra Street Fighter IV is made up of the story from both Street Fighter IV & Super Street Fighter IV & Contains Spoilers for Street Fighter II*
The story for Ultra Street Fighter IV takes place nine months after the events of Street Fighter II. After Seth escapes, The S.I.N. corporation began another fighting tournament in order to draw out the most powerful fighters on Earth to complete the BLECE project. Each character has their own reasons for entering this tournament, but S.I.N.’s real desire is to lure Ryu to them in order to analyze the Satsui no Hado, believed to be the last piece of data needed to complete BLECE.
Ultra Street Fighter IV is a 2.5D Fighting game which continues the same style of gameplay from previous Street Fighter titles. The basic gist of the game is you have to defeat your opponent by depleting their health bar located at the top of the screen. Each fighter has their own special attacks such as Ryu’s Hadouken or Guile’s Sonic Boom aswell as multiple combos which heavily rely on skill to perform such as Super, Hyper and Ultra combos which can be built up by landing multiple hits and even gaining a multiplier. The game also features challenge modes familiar with previous Street Fighter games with the now iconic; Destroy the car in which you must use your fighting moves to destroy a huge car aswell as the other mini game which requires you to destroy multiple barrels as they fall from a conveyor belt. In addition to this, There is also a challenge/training mode which helps teach new players to the series how to perform the multitude of combos at hand. The online multiplayer is also incredibly fun and runs smoothly without any performance issues and allows players to truly test their fighting skills against other players across the world as you fight to rank up through the tables of worldwide fighters. If that’s not enough you can even review your gameplay through a recorded battle viewer.
Ultra Street Fighter IV has a great soundtrack for a fighting game and while its still not exactly up to scratch with the soundtracks for games like Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or Tekken; It’s still highly enjoyable. The sound effects are also highly noticeable from the punches and kicks to the impact of the special moves. The voice acting is also pretty decent with a great voice cast including Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Reuben Langdon & Kyle Hebert to name a few of the many talented voice actors in the game.
Ultra Street Fighter IV uses cel-shaded graphics which looks fantastic and really suits the style of gameplay by giving the Street Fighter series its own unique art style compared to fighting game rivals such as Tekken or Mortal Kombat. The cutscenes for the story mode are great aswell changing traditional 3D cutscenes with Anime cutscenes which look fantastic and really adds to the uniqueness of this fighting title.
Ultra Street Fighter IV has a huge replayability factor thanks to numerous unlockables such as colors, costumes, customizable profile parts and trophies. In addition to this aswell, Ultra Street Fighter IV is incredibly fun in terms of gameplay and will keep you playing to not only rank up your profile online but also to just have fun and friendly matches online and in local co-op gameplay.
All in all, Ultra Street Fighter IV is an incredibly fun and fluent fighting game and with plenty of replayability to boot, This game is definitely worth your money to get plus the new characters are great to play as.
