Tekken 7 Officially Announced; Runs on Unreal Engine 4

Today was a great day for Tekken fans as the first new gen entry was confirmed at EVO 2014.

At Fighting Tournament; EVO 2014 today; Bandai Namco revealed they are working on the next entry in the long running Tekken series with Tekken 7 by revealing a teaser trailer and that the game will run on Unreal Engine 4. On discussing the choice to work with the Unreal Engine 4; Game Director Katsuhiro Harada said “With Unreal Engine 4, we could rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platform and go beyond it,” He added “Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire.” In addition to this; Harada also revealed how not developing a brand new engine has allowed the team to focus their efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game.

In the trailer shown; We see a woman kneeling saying how its time and that she must stop series regulars; Kazuya & Heihachi Mishima. We then see a Volcano with what appears to be Kazuya with the Devil Gene getting ready to kill Heihachi (Who appears old instead of his younger appearance in Tag Tournament 2 & PlayStation All-Stars). The trailer does look truly great and it should be good to see how Tekken 7 runs on the new gen consoles.

No other details have been revealed so far but Tekken 7 is expected to appear on PS4 & Xbox One sometime in the future.
