This week at RTX 2014; Insomniac Games revealed more footage from their upcoming Xbox One Exclusive; Sunset Overdrive by showing off new gameplay aswell as the opening cinematic for the game.
The opening cinematic sees a launch event/rave in the heart of the games fictional setting; Sunset City where we see the Protagonist (Played by Yuri Lowenthal); A worker for the FizzCo Corporation tasked with cleaning up after the launch event for the new energy drink; Overcharge Delirium XT. Shortly after getting a few minutes peace he witnesses the horrifying after effects of the drink.
The game takes place in the dystopian Sunset City in the year 2027 which is controlled by the FizzCo Corporation. When the Humans who binge on new energy drink; Overcharge Delirium XT turn into blood thirsty mutants; The Fun Begins.
Sunset Overdrive was revealed at Microsoft’s E3 2013 Press Conference and caught gamers eyes thanks to its cartoony art style and over the top carnage. The game is a third person shooter that includes many parkour elements aswell as gameplay reminiscent of older games such as Ratchet & Clank & Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Gamers will have multiple ways to get across the city from wall running and jumping across rooftops to grinding along rails & Zip Lining across the cities electrical cables with a crowbar. The game also features what the developers are calling Next Gen Respawning in which the player gets to customize their respawn from walking out of a Sarcophagus to Being thrown out of a black van by Mutants.
Sunset Overdrive is being developed by Insomniac Games (Ratchet & Clank) exclusively for the Xbox One and will be available from October 28th 2014 in North America & October 30th in Europe.
