Disney & Marvel reveal Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes for Late 2014

Recently, Disney have revealed the next installment in their Disney Infinity series with Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes which will not only introduce new characters but also bring new features.

Disney confirmed that Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes will feature more than 20 new figures from the Marvel Universe with original storylines being penned by award winning Marvel Veteran; Brian Michael Bendis aswell as a brand new toy box mode that makes it even easier to create brand new content such as one of a kind levels & mini-games. During the conference; It was discussed that some of the new features include bigger maps with the New York City map being 4x bigger than the Metroville map from the Disney Infinity 1 map. In addition, With the city being bigger; New features have been added for the characters such as Flight, Wall Climbing, Super Jumping & Motorbikes to name a few things aswell as a brand new upgrade system which allows players to upgrade what they like most about their characters. Each Superhero also has a different style in terms of combat with some being ranged, brawlers and more. Disney also confirmed that 2 new power discs would come with the 2.0 starter pack which would add 2 Mini-games; 1 being a Tower Defense game and the other being a Dungeon Crawler. They also confirmed that all the previous figures & power discs aswell as the portal pad from the first game will be compatible with the new game.

“We’ve worked closely with the Disney Interactive team to deliver an incredible line-up of Marvel characters and great storytelling for the next chapter of Disney Infinity,” said Peter Phillips, EVP and General Manager, Interactive & Digital Distribution at Marvel Entertainment. “The 2.0 edition will allow Marvel fans around the world to interact with their favorite Marvel Super Heroes in entirely new ways, including compelling gameplay and a new line of collectible interactive figures.”

So far the only confirmed Marvel figures are The Avengers which consists of; Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow & Hawkeye which will be available when the game launches later this year however their is plenty more figures & playsets from both Marvel & Disney to be announced in future months although some new figures spotted in the trailer include Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Dr. Doom & Stitch to name a few.

Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes is currently being developed by Avalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive for a launch this fall on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PC & iOS which will get a launch pack including:

  • 1 Copy of Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes
  • 3 Marvel Super Hero Figures (Iron Man, Thor & Black Widow)
  • 1 Disney Infinity 2.0 Base
  • 2 Toy Box Game Discs
  • 1 Marvel’s The Avengers Play Set Piece
  • 1 Web Code Card
