OK now that the disclaimer is out of the way; The latest rumor suggests that Albert Wesker will return in Resident Evil 7 in a brand new iteration after Chris Redfield blew him up with a Rocket Launcher in Resident Evil 5. According to the rumor; A Capcom Employee tweeted that the Actor in charge of voicing Wesker in the new title was recording some lines in the studio aswell as the fact that Alice; The main protagonist of the Resident Evil film series who was created primarily for that media format could make her video game debut in Resident Evil 7 as a playable survivor in the Mercenaries Mode.
As of right now nothing is confirmed so please do take this with a huge grain of salt.
Right now; Resident Evil 7 has yet to be revealed by Capcom however if the rumors are true, We only have a few weeks left to wait before we see it in all its glory and judging by the direction game studios like Warner Bros. are taking with the Batman Arkham series; Its probably a safe bet that this will be a next gen exclusive.
