No Plans for HD Remake of Final Fantasy XII at the moment; Says Kitase

Since its inception in 1987, Final Fantasy has captivated gamers from all over the world over numerous consoles from the NES to the PS1 and beyond and recently a producer on the Series; Yoshinori Kitase spoke about the series where he has said that Square Enix currently have no plans to release a High Definition Remake of Final Fantasy XII Although it could change in the future.

Very Recently, Kitase said to Eurogamer “I haven’t heard there is a plan. It depends on the team who created 12. If they think it’s a good idea they might opt for it.” The long time producer also said that as of right now; Square Enix are looking for ways to bring every entry in the long running Japanese RPG series are available in one form or another for Modern Gamers. He also said that the PlayStation Network is a great way for them to release all of the titles that graced the PlayStation 1 including some of the series’ most notable entries; Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy VIII however Kitase said its harder for Square to get PS3 games to the fans.

Kitase also added “So it’s not quite so straightforward if you want to play PS2 titles. That’s why we wanted to remaster some of our PS2 titles. We wanted to make them more accessible and available to as many gamers as possible.” Of course as of this article being typed; Square are hard at work on transferring Final Fantasy X & Final Fantasy X-2 into HD for PS3 & PS Vita in which the team have promised that all the core gameplay mechanics are recognizable and that fans will be able to enjoy the new HD Graphics aswell as the revamped versions of the characters they know and love.

In addition to this, Square is currently continuing to supply support to the online servers and deliver support to the community of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn which is an MMO that has managed to erase all memory of the failure of the previous installment. The last new Final Fantasy game coming soon is the highly anticipated; Final Fantasy XV which will see the series making the jump to the next gen (With the exception of FFXIV which is coming to PS4) on Sony’s PS4 & Microsoft’s Xbox One. The game originally titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII will see a new cast of Characters in a more realistic modern setting with an innovative combat system that will please the long term fans aswell as some truly stunning graphics.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD is available now in Japan and will be hitting the US & Canada March 18th before finally hitting the UK & Europe a few days later on March 21st. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is already available on PS3, Xbox 360 & PC however it will be available on PS4 worldwide on April 14th. As for Final Fantasy XV; There is currently no date as of yet although speculation on the internet suggests Square is aiming for a 2015 release. Check out the trailer for FF XII below.
