Capcom registers a new Trademark for Devil May Cry

Originally conceived in 1999 as Resident Evil 4; Devil May Cry has become a staple franchise for Capcom with the series spawning 3 Sequels, A Reboot, An Animated Series & More. Unlike most games based around Demons; Devil May Cry put a modern spin on Demon Hunting with you taking control of Dante; The son of a Demon & a Human (Angel in the Reboot) as he takes on the demons roaming the world with his signature weapons “Rebellion”, 1 of many swords in Dante’s Arsenal & His signature guns; “Ebony & Ivory”. The recent title; DmC did pretty well considering the amount of controversy surrounding it and it would seem that Capcom is not yet done with the franchise.

Capcom recently registered a trademark for something related to Devil May Cry two weeks ago and the trademark was submitted on February 14th 2014. You can check out a picture of the trademark below.

DmC1-600x310

What does this mean? Who knows? Best guess would be that Capcom is gearing up for a Devil May Cry announcement soon. A few assumptions going around on the internet suggest it could either be:

  • A Sequel to Last Year’s DmC: Devil May Cry continuing the story of the rein visioned Dante
  • DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition similar to what Square Enix have recently done with Tomb Raider including Next Gen Graphics and all of the Downloadable Content
  • A New Devil May Cry game outside the DmC storyline; Maybe Devil May Cry 5?

As mentioned above; All of these are just assumptions and nothing is by far confirmed however judging by the sales of DmC it is likely this is for a new game. As of right now however take the assumptions with a huge grain of salt.

So what do you think? Would you like to see a new Devil May Cry? How would you feel about a next gen port of DmC? What do you think this trademark will turn out to be?
