Hello everyone and welcome to The Weekend Playlist where we tell you whats been occupying our weekends so that you may get some recommendations or be dissuaded from certain titles. This week is our second Weekend Playlist of 2014 and this week me & ThaMaskedGamer have some great recommendations for all of you so without further ado, Lets get started.

Matthew McNamee: Chief Editor at UGNN:

Last Game you Played – Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

So I’ve just got this on Xbox One courtesy of the nice people at Square Enix and I haven’t been able to put it down. I used to own the PlayStation 3 version and I was a huge fan of the game when it came out and I still retain the same thoughts towards this next gen port. You really can tell the difference when you are looking at it graphics wise as the characters look and feel more real. Anyway enough of me describing it as you will be able to read the review later this week. I will finish off this bit by saying if you’ve played it on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 then you will enjoy the updated graphics and the Downloadable Content and if you haven’t picked this up yet, then you will enjoy everything even more. This is a must play game and is Tomb Raider at its finest.

Last Movie(s) you Watched – Robocop (1987) & Evil Dead (2013)

This weekend, I once again watched 2 films both of which are brilliant. The first film I watched was the 1987 Robocop to prepare myself for the Remake which I am hoping is a great film like its predecessor. The film centers on cop, Alex J. Murphy when he gets his limbs blown off by an infamous gang of criminals on his first day. Seeing the opportunity, Weapons Manufacturer Omnicorp decide to take the remains of Murphy and turn him into a Cyborg law enforcer with the codename Robocop. Robocop starts off just dealing with average criminals however when the human side of Murphy remembers his murder in a dream, He goes on the hunt for the criminals who killed him. This movie truly is an ’80’s classic and is one of the finest Sci-Fi films of all time.

The Second Film I watched this weekend was the remake of cult Horror classic; The Evil Dead. The remake has a very similar premise to the original with 5 20-somthings going to spend the weekend at an old cabin in the middle of the woods (In the remake, Its for a Drug Rehabilitation weekend) when 1 of the group comes across a mysterious book called the Necronomicon; Roughly translated Book of the Dead which is made of Human Flesh & Blood. Shortly after the discovery, A passage is read which unleashes hell upon the group with one of the members getting raped by the local scenery and starting off a chain of events that picks the other members off 1 by 1 until eventually, only 1 of them can stop the devourer of souls from rising out of hell. This film is one of those remakes that you can watch over and over again and it gets better every time. This film is a must watch for any horror fanatics out there but if your not and want to watch it, Be warned as it contains extreme levels of Gore, Sexual Violence, Excessive Swearing &  References to Drug use. Definitely not one for the kids.

Last TV Show(s) you Watched – The Tomorrow People & Mock the Week

This weekend, 2 TV Shows have taken up my weekend. The first is The Tomorrow People, A US Remake of a British Sci-Fi show starring Robbie Amell (Whose cousin Stephen plays Green Arrow on The CW‘s Arrow). The show follows Stephen Jameson (Amell) as he discovers he has special abilities called the 3 T’s. The 3 T’s being Telepathic, Telekinesis & Teleportation however when Stephen gets dragged into a war between The Tomorrow People; Who fight for the safety of their kind & Ultra; An organization that uses tomorrow people to kill tomorrow people in order to prove that the Humans have more right to live. Stephen soon discover he is different from the others however in the fact he can freeze time and so uses his abilities and goes undercover to help The Tomorrow People and find their organization’s founder; His Father. This show is brilliant so far and is definitely worth watching & with The CW having The Tomorrow People, Arrow & The Vampire Diaries in its line-up; Its no surprise that The CW is one of the more popular channels in America at the moment.

The other TV show I watched this weekend is Mock the Week which is a show where comedians try to win over the audience & host Dara O’Brien to win points towards proving they are great comedians. I love watching this show because I’m a huge fan of Controversial Scottish Comedian; Frankie Boyle who makes a lot of risky jokes regarding whatever category he is given. I am also a huge fan of Russell Howard who is another one of the comedians on the show. This is a great show for comedy fans and I definitely recommend it.

Last Book or Article you Read – The Death of Philip Seymour Hoffman

Just read online that the brilliant actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has died of a drug overdose. I have to admit that its a real shame as he has been brilliant in every film I’ve seen him in which are as follows; Twister, The Big Lebowski, The Boat That Rocked, Mission Impossible III, The Invention of Lying & The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I have to say this; RIP you brilliant actor.

RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman (1967-2014)

Last Book or Article you Read – Man runs into a burning building to save his Xbox

This Article I recently read was awesome and in my eyes shows one of the true meanings of a gamer this man ran into his home that was on fire to save his Xbox; luckily both the man and the Xbox survived.

A Real Gamer If I ever saw one.
